Jason Abraham is the Helicopter Horseman |
Jason grew up in the small Texas panhandle town of Canadian and, after high school, graduated from Clarendon College Ranch Management Program. Jason and his brothers own 61 sections or about 39,000 acres. They ran cattle on much of that until Jason had a better idea. He wanted to buy gentle, halter broke mares, make sure they were healthy, and then lease them out to mare owners who need embryo recipients. After some trial and error, the plan finally came together. And now, Jason runs about 2000 recipient mares and stands a few stallions as well.
Jason is very involved in the research, development, and practice of embryo transferring in horses. He works very closely with some of the leading veterinarians and researchers in the area of equine bio-genetics. Jason also has a very close working relationship with the Equine Research Lab at Colorado Sate University in Fort Collins, Colorado. In fact, on April 14 th, 2006, a non-cycling mule gave birth to a quarter horse filly at CSU. This was one of Jason’s projects and is believed to be the first time in history that this has happened. This special event is the subject of the first show on the Helicopter Horseman.
Jason is a lifetime AQHA member and NCHA member. He is also a WRCA Director/Officer and served on the Selection Committee for the Best Remuda awarded to a ranch by the AQHA. Jason is married with two children. His wife cooks each day for the ranch hands and whoever else might be hanging around. Between school and athletics, the children do their fair share of work around the ranch as well.
The Helicopter Horseman promises to be one of the most talked about and exciting new shows on television. Jason’s laid back approach to hosting will relate very well to viewers. His humor and knowledge will be both entertaining and educational.

Amber was born and raised in the tiny southern Oklahoma town of Ringling, affectionately known to the locals as Mud Creek. “We’re called Creekers and we’re mostly farmers, ranchers, and huge football fans. I grew up in a trailer house in the middle of a wheat field”. Amber’s childhood was spent riding her motorcycle, riding her horse, and playing basketball. Summers were spent waterskiing and eating catfish on Lake Texhoma with her Grandparents. “Papa and I ran jug lines every morning. Some were ours but I later figured out that most were not!”
She started running barrels when she was around 10 and that took up most of her time. “I was lucky to be from Ringling, Bill Pogue (NFR Team Roper Charles Pogue’s late father) had an indoor arena and in between pens of steers, he would help me with my barrel horse. He helped all kids that wanted to rodeo and never asked for anything.”
Amber was also involved in pageants, and in 1988 was crowned American Miss of Oklahoma, which led to some time in Los Angeles. She spent a couple of years in Dallas then in ‘91 moved to Nashville where she appeared in a few country music videos. “I was in Tim McGraw’s very first video, called ‘Welcome to the Club’. I would like to say I auditioned and beat out hundreds of hopefuls but the truth is, he and I lived in the same apartment complex and I used to clean his house. He couldn’t pay me one time, my how things have changed, so he invited me to be in his video.” Amber also appeared in a Martina McBride video and a Tracy Lawrence video. Following a brief stint working for Rodney Dangerfield, “Weird job, huh? Never even met him, just fielded phone calls for him and opened and sorted his mail”, she spent a couple of years in Ft. Worth before finally settling in the Amarillo area.
Amber appeared in the Oliver Stone film “Any Given Sunday” as well as “Waking Up in Reno” and the short films “Aunt Maddy” and “Mixed Vegetables”. She has appeared in many local commercials and has an ongoing TV spokesperson position for Brown Pontiac/GMC/Buick. Amber also does voiceovers and some theater.
“The Helicopter Horseman though, is my favorite thing that I’ve ever done. This is just right up my alley. I’m very, very blessed that Jason asked me to be a part of it.”
Amber is a licensed esthetician, works for a doctor, still rodeos, and lives in the country with her husband, two sons, and a cat appropriately named Worm Ring.
